The City of Monroe has selected Southern Disaster Recovery to assist with debris removal following Winter Storm Fern. The contractor has mobilized across all five city districts to speed up cleanup operations after more than 520 tons of debris were cleared in the first five days. Officials say the additional support will help restore normal operations more quickly and safely.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident that occurred February 10 in the 200 block of Elmwood Drive. Twenty-six-year-old Hunter Ray of Pineville was struck by a falling tree while working with a crew removing storm-damaged trees from Winter Storm Fern. Authorities say the incident appears to be accidental, but the investigation remains active.
